Hey Guys!
I am so happy that the weather is finally cooling down and we can snuggle up with a good book, a funny movie/tv show and some warming chocolate-y goodness. All of these are in my October Favourites.
Favourite Book
Recovery: Freedom from Our Addictions. Russel Brand has struggled with addiction for as long as he can remember. From drugs to work to sex to his mobile phone, Russel knows how tempting it can be to ease our discomforts with destructive temporary distractions. He has been practicing sobriety for the past 14 years now, and his struggle has given him so much insight.
Whether or not you associate yourself with the term “addiction”, Russel’s book will speak to you because we all exhibit some kind of addictive behaviour. Russel helps us to gain awareness of our destructive behaviours by sharing some extremely honest personal experiences, with a lot of humour. If you buy to this book with Audible, you have the added joy of listening to him – I love that smart boy’s colourful language and accent.
Favourite TV Show
Jane the Virgin. I realise I’m joining this party a bit late, but if I’m late some of you might be too! If you want to watch something that is absolutely hilarious, has a good dose of romance and keeps you totally enthralled, “Jane the Virgin” is the show to pick.
Jane, a 24-year old virgin, is accidentally artificially inseminated when she goes to her stressed-out gynaecologist for a pap smear. Whoops, right? She gets pregnant and her life becomes a whole lot more interesting when the father of the baby (of course the sperm belongs to someone!) gets involved.
This show is like Desperate Housewives but funnier.
Favourite Recipe
If you follow my instagram stories, you know that I occasionally attempt to entertain you with the “Emma Cooking Show”. This month, I walked you through the steps of making Nigella Lawson’s absolutely decadent Chocohotopots.
You can’t go wrong with a Nigella Lawson recipe. They’re simple and delicious. I made these for dinner with friends and they blew us all away.
Favourite Movie
The Meyerowitz Stories (new and selected). Narcissism, relational issues, neglect, divorce, complex family dynamics, illness, alcoholism, sibling rivalry, relational trauma, loneliness and loyalty – all summed up in a hilarious depiction of this family’s story. I loved it!
Enjoy the snuggle-time!
With love,
