Lent: The perfect opportunity to break a bad habit and start an awesome one

I’m not a religious person and I never used to do the whole Lent thing. But a few years ago, Pete and I used Lent as an excuse to bet on who could last longer without their favourite food and I lost miserably.

The year after, we decided to be kinder to each other and instead of depriving ourselves to see who would lose first, we challenged each other to commit to a daily practice that we hoped would help our relationship to deepen and grow.

  • The third group didn’t practice or visualise – they did NADA!

Richardson found that the visualisation group VASTLY improved in their free-throwing ability, and were almost as good as the group who practiced daily!

How to Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions get a bad rep sometimes and for different reasons. Some people say we should love ourselves as we are and stop trying to improve. Some say resolutions are stupid because they don’t work. And others say screw New Year’s; if you want to improve yourself, do it now!

The concept of the Resolution exists because one of our most fundamental human needs is “growth”. We all need to be achieving and expanding our sense of self to be able to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives.
